Synopsis
As opposed to other cultural or rather educational films, propaganda feature documentary ‘Fighters for Croatia’ belongs to the group of films focused to political and military activities such as ‘Poglavnik i narod’, ‘Dan hrvatskog junaka’, ‘Mladost Hrvatske’. It was supposed to show, according to the Hitler formula, the successful education of Croatian soldiers in Stockerau near Vienna. The film is possibly the best example of Ustasha propaganda which attempts, in panic and aware of the coming end, to influence those who by some chance had not developed aversion toward the criminal regime. The director is unknown, the music was composed by Lovro Mataèiæ, the famous conductor and ‘supervisor of army orchestras with the rank of lieutenant”. He even appears in several sequences in his (or for the film improvised) office and while conducting.
