For the first time after thirty years, Croatian film is competing in Cannes. Short film 'Ciao Mama' by Goran Odvorèiæ is officially selected for short competition of 62nd International Cannes Film Festival. Initially, film was written and directed by Goran Odvorèiæ and Matija Klukoviæ (winner of the Checkered section of 4th ZFF) as a part of 'Zagreb Stories' omnibus.

Later, two versions of the same film were made - first, signed by both authors will be shown as a part of omnibus during this year's Pula Film Festival. Second, authored solely by Odvorèiæ will compete in Cannes. Odvorèiæ's debut film, produced by Propeler Film and coproduced by Focus Media and Start-Up is a first Croatian Cannes entry after 1979. when Lordan Zafranovic's war drama 'Occupation in 26 Pictures' competed. 'Ciao Mama' follows a mother - daughter relationship development after mother announces that she's leaving the family.
