Along with 'Thesis', Alejandro Amenabar's well-known film debut which has already been announced, we bring you four more debuts by respectable filmmakers from the Iberian Peninsula within the programme My First Film - Spain. Among the four films there will be Luis Garcia Berlanga's 'Welcome Mr. Marshall", a 1953 anti-global comedy whose topic is relevant even in today's world. You will also have a chance to see 'The Spirit of the Beehive', a political masterpiece by Victor Erice which made famous a then 7-year-old girl, Ana Torrent. On the programme will also be Juanma Bajo Ulloa's debut film 'Butterfly Wings', often considered to be a metaphor for the relationship between Spain and the Basque Country as well as Julio Medem's "Cows", a saga about a 60-year-long rivalry between two families - the Mendiluces and the Irigibelos - intertwined with wars, history and the Basque mythology.
