najsretnija_100x70.jpg

Starting with next Monday (December 14th) Romanian film The Happiest Girl in the World (shown as a part of the feature films competition of the 7th ZFF) will be regularly screened in cinema EUROPA. The movie is a debut feature by Radu Jude, known as the director of the most awarded Romanian short film of all times (The Tube With a Hat). It follows Delia Fratila (brilliant newcomer Andreea Bosneag), a working class teenager who wins a luxury car in a promotional campaign. Delia and her parents travel to Bucharest to shoot a commercial in which she must thank the sponsoring company for the car. As the shoot wears on, the car slowly becomes both the object and catalyst of an absurd clash of desire, values, and will between Delia's cash-strapped parents (played by acclaimed Romanian actors Vasile Muraru, Violeta Haret Popa) and her youthful self. In 2010. The Happiest Girl in the World (with Zagreb Film Festival as distributor) will be screened in cinemas across Croatia (Zadar, Osijek, Rijeka).

Reviews:

Confidently, without making moral judgments, he uses the different experiences and expectations of the generations and the disparity between big-city sophistication and small-town parochialism to nail the ambience of a country where the communist past and capitalist present uneasily co-exist. Alissa Simon, Variety

The cast perfectly fulfills their roles delivering sharp performances with utter believability. A great debut from a young, exciting director. Jordana Mah, Schema Magazine

Hilarious yet believable, the film addresses the universal conflicts of teenagers and their parents while subtly addressing the manipulative power of advertising. Rania Richardson, indieWire
