FILM AS PROPAGANDA: Lecture by Roel Vand Winkel and the screening of Disney’s
propaganda films.
The most respected world expert on film propaganda,
Belgian historian Roel
Vande Winkel, will give a lecture on film propaganda during the World War II as
a part of his visit to ZFF. He will not, as usual, focus on the most popular
Nazi propaganda; he will rather publicly present numerous American efforts in
this field, for the first time in this region. Most prominent are short
propaganda animated films from Walt Disney’s workshop conceived so as to
present the real situation in the Third Reich to American viewers. How did
Donald Duck end up among Goebbels, Hitler and Goering? We will see at the
lecture.
There
will be screening of films: 'Education
for Death', 'Donald Duck the Spirit of '43' and 'Der Fuehrer's Face'.
